Auchincloss Votes Against Coast Guard Authorization Act Of 2022

Congressman Jake Auchincloss, who represents Newton, Brookline, and the rest of Massachusetts' Fourth Congressional District, has voted against the Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2022.

The legislation, which passed in the House on Tuesday, is a two-year authorization of the Coast Guard’s policies and programs. It authorizes a level of support that enhances Coast Guard operations and helps replace and modernize its cutters and infrastructure.

“Tonight, I voted with my district,” said Auchincloss in a statement. "While I strongly support funding the Coast Guard, a hidden provision in this bill would grind offshore wind production to a halt, costing thousands of local jobs and impeding our ability to meet President Biden's clean energy goals."

"I have previously secured funding to train American workers in the offshore wind industry, and I will continue to fight for this critical clean energy industry,” he continued. I will also continue to vote my conscience and be beholden to no one but my constituents.”
