Representative Auchincloss' Statement on President Trump's Vow to Dismantle the Department of Education

Congressman Jake Auchincloss (MA-04) issued the following statement on President Trump's vow to eliminate the Department of Education: “President Trump’s vow to dismantle the Department of Education would hurt low-income students and families who rely upon federal funding for public schools. It would also make educators' jobs harder at a time when burnout is already far too high.

 

This is only the most recent threat in the Trump Administration’s relentless attacks on federal agencies authorized and appropriated by Congress. While Republicans keep their heads down, Democrats will stand tall and fight back through both litigation and the appropriations process."
