Rep. Jake Auchincloss On His First 100 Days In Office

NEWTON, MA — Rep. Jake Auchincloss has a memorable first 100 days in Congress representing Massachusetts' 4th Congressional District. On Tuesday he marked the milestone with a video commemorating the ride.

On Day 1 he was among the legislators in the U.S. Capitol building Jan. 5, required to go on lockdown, when rioters broke windows and forced their way into the building.

During the next 99 days, he cites as among his accomplishments that he was the first member of Congress to call for Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to resign after the conservative politician called for executing prominent Democratic politicians.

He supported the H.R. 1. bill, the "For the People Act" to expand voting rights, change campaign finance laws to reduce the influence of money in politics, limit partisan gerrymandering and create new ethics rules for federal officeholders.

"The first 100 days of this Congress have been both turbulent and historic, and Jake has been a cool head in times of crisis," said Matt Corridoni, who works on Auchincloss's staff. "Along with fellow Democrats, under the leadership of Speaker Pelosi and President Biden, Jake has already been able to deliver results for the fourth district; helping to get more vaccines into the community, reopen schools, and begin to rebuild the economy, so it works for everyone. As we look to the future, these first 100 days serve as a marker for where we've been as a country, and where we plan to go as we reimagine our future post-pandemic."
