Cong. Auchincloss Packs `Em In

"It was great to see Congressman Auchincloss in Franklin engaging with the community," said Franklin State Rep, Jeff Roy.  "He addressed question on health care, climate change, social media, foreign relations and the current state of affairs in Congress; as usual, he had a firm grasp of all of the issues and demonstrated why he is a great representative for our district," Roy added.

Some of the other topics that came up Saturday morning included: gun violence, the debt ceiling, special education funding, VA disability funding, care for seniors at nursing homes, health insurance, anti-Asian hate, social media/kids mental health, and even the somewhat obscure Jones Act, (more accurately known as Merchant Marine Act of 1920, a United States federal statute that provides for the promotion and maintenance of the American merchant marine).

“Dozens of great questions at the Franklin Town Hall, but my favorite was from young Isaac, who asked about the connection between social media and youth mental health," state Auchincloss. "We must hold Facebook, TikTok and the other platforms accountable for monetizing children’s attention spans at the expense of their cognitive & socioemotional development, including laws for children’s online privacy & protection and an enforceable age limit,” he added.
